Fade Friday – Traveling Denim Documentary by Takayuki Akachi

One of the main reasons for choosing raw denim above all other options is of course the resulting fades.  They are completely personal to you and your body, and (99% of the time) look awesome.  But what are those fades really at an even higher level? If you think about it, those pair of jeans are with you for months on end, through thick and thin, through good times and bad.  You could even argue that that simple article of clothing tells a story.

It could be a story about anything really.  Maybe it’s the outline on your backpocket from your keychain or wallet, or maybe even a ketchup stain on your lap.  This is exactly what Japanese video director, Takayuki Akachi, has beautifully encapsulated in his documentary and taken to a whole new level – Traveling Denim: Recording Color Fade For Two Years.

For the record, this was done over 2 years in 50 countries!  Yikes…
