Denim by Première Vision: Denim’s Top Trade Show

We’ve covered the trade show circuit here before, but in the larger label shows denim is usually just a small part of the massive whole that is the entire menswear scene. Well there is a show that has exclusively exhibited the world’s top selection of denim–and only denim–for the past six years.

Denim by Première Vision brings together denim’s top designers with over a hundred of the world’s best mills, manufacturers, and launderers to shape their next season’s collection. It’s the show that happens before any clothes have even been made, where industry pros from Turkey, Italy, Japan, Brazil, and dozens of other countries from all over globe scout materials and fabrics from the likes of our old favorites Cone Mills, Kuroki Mills, and Nihon Menpu Mills as well as some of the larger international players like Isko, Denim Authority, Prosperity Textiles, and Arvind Limited.

And it’s more than just raws. The last show attracted mainstream brands ranging from Gucci to Kohl’s as well as established denim makers like EdwinLevi’sWranglerG-Star, and Agave Denim. Besides the half of the show devoted to weavers and mills, nearly a quarter of the exhibitors represent wash houses and manufacturers and the remainder work with denim accessories.

The festivities have been in Paris since the show’s inception in 2007, but this year they’re changing it up and holding it in the Fira Montjuic Hall in the heart of Barcelona, Spain.

Founding Editor Nick Coe and I will be attending and covering the event from Barcelona on May 21-22, so look forward to seeing everything that’s coming in the denim world for Autumn/Winter 15-16. In the meantime, check out some of the photos from last season’s show or check out their website for more info.
