Sun/Set/Star x Big John Japanther Waistcoat

One of Japan’s oldest denim manufacturers, Big John has teamed up with Austrian boutique Sun/Set/Star for a workwear inspired collaboration. It’s the second installation in their ongoing ‘Japanther’ collaboration. The Big John x Sunsetstar “Japanther” Waistcoat comes in an all cotton ‘Grandrelle Navy Stripe Serge’ fabric, inspired by 1920’s workwear materials.

It’s made in a more contemporary slim fit and features two front flap pockets as well as an inside chest pocket. For a cleaner look, the pocket flaps can be tucked into the pockets themselves. The button front uses silver plated brass buttons and includes a pocket watch button hole.

The lining of the waistcoat bears the collaborative emblem which symbolizes the bond between the two regions of Japan and Garz, Austria. Made in Japan by Big John, the waistcoat’s exclusive logo contains both the flag of Kurashiki as well as the Garz coat of arms which illustrates a Panther, hence the name ‘Japanther’. Only 40 pieces of these waistcoats were made and each one is hand numbered.

You can grab one for about $230 on the Sun/Set/Star website.
