Fade Friday – The Strike Gold 1105 (16 months, 8 washes)

There are generally two schools of thought when constructing high end raw denim. The first is to make the absolutely most over-engineered product that will outlast everything else on the market (Iron Heart, for example) then there are jeans that are designed to decay in such a way that they look absolutely amazing.

The Strike Gold, the brand responsible for this week’s Fade Friday, falls firmly in that latter camp. The iron buttons and copper-iron rivets are designed specifically to rust, the large gold pocket arcs start to unravel after the first few weeks of wear, and the ultra textured denim just gains more and more character with each passing month.

Wearer Rafky Danifaro has shown what beauty lies within this wabi-sabi masterpiece. For what he describes as “just typical high school student activities”, he’s created a great vintage-cast fade with a washed out patina that Strike Gold buyers dream about.
