Rancourt & Co. Veg Tanned Essex Collection

So you like patina, eh? Then Rancourt’s latest collection might be for you. This line is made using Horween‘s veg-tanned Essex leather which begins super light in an almost honey color. With some good old-fashioned walking and TLC, the leather will age drastically and develop an eye-popping patina.

Characteristically, Essex is a full-grain, straight vegetable tanned leather with a smooth finish and uses the same natural tree bark extracts that Horween uses to tan their shell cordovan. Most of their shoe models including their beefroll loafer, Blake chukka, Hamilton boot and a few others are being offered in the Essex leather.

Though not nearly as streetwear-y nor as pricey as a pair of Hender Scheme natural, veg-tanned sneakers, the Essex Collection will develop a deep patina and character just like raw denim (which we’re obviously very fond of).

The models range in price from $250 to $395 and you can find them at Rancourt’s website.
