Fade Friday – Momotaro x Japan Blue 0700SP (1 Year, 8 Months, 6 Washes)

The weekend is upon us and, for the weekend warriors, that can mean a fun Saturday. For today’s Fade Friday, however, that means going to battle. Rawr Denim reader Taro Salinas wore his Momotaro Japan Blue 0700SP jeans for a year and 8 months with a generous 6 washes, subsequently achieving fade glory.

All the elements for an artfully faded pair of jeans are here. The whiskers are well-defined, the honey combs show a ton of contrast, and the stacks check the fade box where a cuff would have left it blank. What adds a definite, yet subtle, hint of personality are the pocket fades. His front pocket and rear left pocket are starting to blow out, but the real kicker are the painted ‘battle stripes’ arcuate. Salinas’ wallet has broken through both the paint and the denim, placing his unique stamp on the arcuate.
