PF Flyers x The Brooklyn Circus Rambler Sneaker

My grandfather played basketball for Texas A&M before being drafted in the early 1940s. We don’t have many images of him from that time period, but there’s one in particular of him charging down court in a pair of super high shorts and ankle-high canvas sneakers.

Now, over 70 years after that photo was taken, I’m seeing that silhouette again, only it’s in a new pair of PF Flyers, designed in conjunction with New York brand The Brooklyn Circus. BKc’s Ouigi Theodore teamed up with the Boston-based shoemaker to design a version of PF’s Rambler model that’s reminiscent of early to mid-century athletic footwear.

This iteration of the Rambler is inspired by details from early sneakers but not completely beholden to it. It has the period correct waxed laces, the side vent are smaller grommets and closer together, and the upper is made of a 14oz. military duck canvas. The shoe comes in brown and natural but both have a vulcanized red rubber sole.

Pick up your pair for charging down the court our just charging down Court Street, both models are available today for $79.99 at PF Flyers.
