Denime’s $100 Made in Japan Selvedge Jeans

In the 1970s and 80’s, the Osaka Five, an unofficial group of Japanese denim brands, brought the industry (both in Japan, and eventually, in a trickle-back effect, the US) back to its historic quality and durability-obsessed roots.

Squad member Denime – established in 1988 – is also bringing prices back to pre-twenty first century figures with its latest pair Slim Fit (or something like that – you do the Japanese translation). The 13oz. selvedge denim features chain stitching and a Made in Japan pedigree, for the low low price of ¥10,800, or just short of $100 USD.

As explained on their website, the goal is to lower the barriers to entry and introduce new people to the joys of denim obsession. We can’t argue with that.
