Fade Friday – Somét 008 (7 Years, 5 Washes)

It’s time once again to bestow ultimate fade glory. 7 years and Steven Wu‘s pair of Somét 008‘s have fought their way to the top of this week’s list. Near everyday wear, less than one wash a year, some TLC in the form of repairs and they’re now entitled Fade Friday bragging rights.

This pair has everything and then some. 7 years of wear and they’ve got high contrast with thighs that are hanging on to the last molecules of indigo with virtually no loss of indigo below the knees. There are plenty of honeycombs to go around, literally. The busted up combs travel round to the knees, giving us a little taste of what’s on the other side.

After such a long time, there’s no shortage of rips and repairs, too. The rear pockets are half-lined. At least, they were before Wu tore through that and had them darned by Denim Therapy along with the crotch. A ripped knee accompanied by torn whiskers and cuffs are the last of them to be repaired. But truth be told, these battle scars look good as is.

It’s the contrast, the rips, repairs, and rock star fades that all meld together and make this pair worthy of this week’s Fade Friday crown.
