Fade of the Day – Levi’s 501 Big E (10+ Years, Unknown Washes, Soaks)

This installment of Fade of the Day is somewhat of a rarity for us as it showcases a pair of vintage Levi’s 501 Big Es, who’s owner, Paul Durden, suggests these jeans are from the 1920s. We can’t verify without seeing the denim up-close ourselves, but let’s just say these certainly aren’t your modern day Levi’s 501 – the crotch rivet & back cinch being features of pre-1945 era Levi’s – and the big E in the red tag indicates that these jeans are from pre-1971 stock.

Even so, what we see is a super pair of jeans that have held together well, despite being a few decades old. Paul has owned them himself for ten years with the fade and whiskers resulting from general wear and tear and having rid the jeans of most of the dye. Most would agree that these 501’s are some to prize dearly.
