It’s not every day we see someone take a pair of clippers to their favorite denim jeans, particularly a pair that’s received so many years of TLC. Our UK-based reader, David Gilchrist, has owned and worn these Levi’s Vintage Clothing 501s jeans since 2000, bringing the length of wear to well over ten years.

We’re not entirely sure which exact 501 this is, but after nine years of wear and an unavoidable knee blow-out, they were given a second life and transformed into cut-off shorts. Sadly, that was not the end to his misery as the pockets became unusable and had to be retired for life. Moral of the story: if you love something enough, hang on until the last thread of hope disappears. RIP, cut-off shorts.
