Mike Hodis’s Runabout Goods Releases Debut Collection

Guess who’s back, back again. Hodis’ back, tell a friend.

If you were a fan of the vintage inspired denim brand Rising Sun & Co., then you were probably also a fan of its designer and founder, Mike Hodis. Mike parted ways with Rising Sun a couple years back and is now on to his next project, Runabout Goods, which launched pieces of its first collection on their website this weekend.

Runabout has many of the same stylistic influences as Rising Sun, but focuses more on outdoor and “Adventure Goods” than its workwear oriented predecessor. Sort of like Indiana Jones’s fly-fishing cousin. This means twills and canvas and for better or worse, no denim. What’s out right now runs the gamut from knit and woven tops (including a very handsome wabash pattern), twill and canvas chinos, a couple cardigans, a field jacket, and even a hoodie.

The main man’s eye for fabric and shape are still intact and the collection on the whole feels more conservative than the heights of Rising Sun. Like a foundation preparing to build upon, I think we’ll be seeing much much more out of Runabout in the near future.

All are available for $70 – $595 at Runabout.
