3×1 Denim Solution – Raw Denim Detergent

In the past, we’ve covered lots of different methods for taking care of your raw denim, from cleaning to repairing, as well as a number of wash strategies like the classic soak, the famous freezing technique, and the salt water wash. Obviously there’s no one “correct” way to wash your denim, but here’s a way to spice up the classic soak – slipping in a little of denim manufacturer 3×1‘s Denim Solution.

The 3×1 Denim Solution is the very same solution that the folks from 3×1 use at their NYC atelier when processing their own denim with their ‘Wet x 1’ process. It’s a mild castile soap, much like that which has been used to wash clothes for the last century.

Admittedly, the only real perk here is that it’s designed to go easier on your denim than standard detergents, but we do trust the 3×1 team so perhaps it doesn’t smell as flowery as your average soap, or it contains a secret and magical ingredient that will somehow give you the best fades of all time (which, if that’s the case, they should charge a whole lot more).

All told, it’s competitive when compared with the price of A.P.C. x Aesop Fine Fabric Care and it can be purchased outside of Japan, so if you’re in the market for a denim soap being sold by a denim company, maybe give this one a shot!
