As it soon enters the final week of backing, Legacy of Cool – a limited edition denim line and documentary film project launched on Kickstarter – is working its way towards the backing required to achieve their mission statement. Legacy of Cool aims to illuminate the story of a deep love of Americana inspired denim and the craftsmanship and design involved.
Legacy of Cool is striving to produce jeans and a basics clothing line over a “journey” that they’ve taken around the world to attain the materials, inspiration and meet a number of people who share the passion for vintage Americana.
This is an adventure they’ll also film; a task which will require additional crew for a number of post production procedures, as well as shipping in the denim from Japan to New York.
Part of their quest involves the team picking up denim from the Nihon Menpu textile mills in Japan and showing off the inside of the mill in their film (if they manage to fund their project). Investing in, or “backing” in Kickstarter lingo, their project will also allow you to pick up part of their line of clothing including the denim line if you happen to put in a hefty enough donation.
They’ll also be featuring a few leading denim experts including Zip Stevenson from Hollywood Trading Company, Jeff Rudes from J Brand and Atsu Tagaya from Stevenson Overall Co. Take a full look through and back the project by visiting their Kickstarter project page.
