Inspiration V – Railcar Fine Goods

If you’ve ever handled a pair of Railcar Fine Goods denim, you’ve handled a product that was entirely designed, manufactured, and marketed by six people. That’s right, no outsourcing for them, every single pair of jeans is made in their Arcadia, California factory just north of Los Angeles. All six members of this self-contained denim team were showing their wares at Inspiration and Celisse Villareal was kind enough to walk us through their line.

The Railcar line divides along fits and and fabrics. The men’s Spikes fit comes in a variety of selvedge flavors from 13.5oz. Cone Mills shown directly below to a Japanese 14 Oz. denim in the following images.

Railcar is also one of the players in the women’s raw market with their Viper fit, which is also available in Kaihara stretch denim and several types of Cone Mills. Here’s Villareal’s in her two-year-old Viper‘s:

They’ve continued to show their utilitarian flair for detail in touches like non-contrast triple-stitched belt loops and a super heavy veg-tanned leather patch.

Apologies for the fuzzyness. It was dark in there.

Exclusive to Inspiration, though, was a test lot of Spikes in double redline selvedge from Kurabo Mills. Owner/founder Steven Dang told us he had to buy up all the entire Kurabo run after seeing the denim in person. Here’s to hoping these make it to mainstream market!

Thus concludes our coverage of Inspiration 2013. Thanks again to The Real McCoy’s, Levi’s Vintage Clothing, Blue Blanket, and Eat Dust for their time. See you next year!
