Have you ever struggled emotionally when the time comes to send your beloved pair of jeans off to denim heaven? Some people just don’t (and maybe never will) understand, that even though our jeans have been beaten to the ground, it’s impossible for many us to bear to let them go.
Enter Nudie Jeans Co. and their latest creation – the Post Recycle Rug. Through the rug, the Swedish denim brand hopes to make the painful ritual of departing with one’s denim just the slightest bit easier.
Ideal for any sunroom, patio or informal living space, the rug is constructed entirely from used pairs of Nudie Jeans. What’s the process behind the product though? After old denim is shredded into serrated strips, it’s sewn together end to end and rolled up on spools. Nudie then hand weave the strips together on a manual shuttle loom with the same weft that is used during the construction of their jeans,
The result is a unique patterned rug that pays testament to all of the previous owners of the denim. The eye-catching aesthetic can be attributed to the warp, (the many different strips of denim) being cut from separate parts of the original jeans.
Within the rugs you can pick out the famous bright orange Nudie back pocket stitching as well as the occasional lock-stitch from a high tension area and even the seam of a belt loop or coin pocket.
If the time ever comes when your jeans are no longer acceptable to wear out in public, pick up one of these rugs so that the spirit of your denim can live on, albeit on the floor!
