While they’re not something we’ve given a lot of love to in the past, shorts are one of those things many men will be bringing out of their closets come the warmer months.
At times, they’ve been used as a way to recycle old denim by creating cutoffs, but that is all set to change this Spring / Summer. Daniel Carman of the Toronto-based shop, Over The Rainbow, and Brandon Svarc, head of Naked and Famous, have launched a line of selvedge roll up shorts from a selection of N&F’s Japanese fabrics.
The Capsule Collection features shorts in five different fabrics, as well as five short sleeve tops. The highlight of the shorts is definitely the vintage dungaree denim option, which is a slubby looking selvedge option most likely to please the raw denim enthusiast.
Past this short, there is a brown selvedge duck canvas option, a leaf/cloud double sided camo fabric used in the S/S13 denim line, a greenish brown selvedge fabric, and a lighter denim/chambray short. Plenty of options to choose from if you want to keep your love for selvedge going on your shorts.
The entirety of the collection will be released today, Thursday April 11, 2013, at Over the Rainbow‘s in Toronto and in-store only. If you happen to be located in the Toronto area, this is a great chance to pick up some of the shorts first. Don’t forget to have a beer or two with Brandon Svarc in-person and ask him exactly how he comes up with many of the denims and styles he creates.
