Raw denim is often heralded as a means to express oneself. Acting as a denim canvas, the jeans slowly develop unique fades that represent the wearer’s lifestyle and character. 3sixteen’s World Tour takes a completely different approach. Featured on reddit ten months ago, the World Tour is an ongoing project where a single pair of jeans are worn, a couple months at a time, by people all around the world.
Rather than emphasizing the expression of an individual’s life, the “World Tour” focuses on capturing snapshots of the lives of different raw denim community members. RawrDenim forum user Wombocombo eloquently captured the essence of the project with the following thought-provoking statement: “extremely cool and incredibly gross”.
Unsurprisingly, the single most requested pair of jeans for the “World Tour” were the kind we are featuring today, the Slim Tapered Shadow Selvedge (ST-120x). These jeans belong to owner, Ryan M., are a great example of how 3sixteen’s Kuroki Mill indigo warp and black weft threads weave together to produce a stunning display of well defined contrasting fades.
Ryan clearly has worn his jeans hard, as the impressive fades are matched by an equally flabbergasting crotch blowout. Luckily, despite the heavy treatment, these jeans are still brimming with character and life with a robust spectrum of denim colors.
