Rogue Territory End-Of-Year Collabs – Need Supply and Hollows Leather

Rogue Territory must be one of the busiest brands around these days with the amount of collaborations and projects they’re engaged with. As the year ends, Karl Thoennessen and co. have taken some ideas and a wool blanket fabric that they’ve been wanting to use and released not just one, but two new pieces showcasing the fabric.

Dark Indigo Shawl Collar Supply Jacket

First up is a collaboration jacket that they’ve released with menswear store, Need Supply. Made from a 13.5 oz Kurabo selvedge denim, the jacket is modeled after Rogue Territory‘s popular Supply Jacket and features the wool blanket as a lining. The body of the jacket is all blanket lined as well as the front two pockets. The sleeves are lined with Japanese chambray.

One interesting modification to the Supply Jacket design is the addition of a shawl collar which gives the otherwise rugged jacket, with its raw denim and blanket lining, a more modern and classic look. This isn’t the first time that the two brands have collaborated but it’s the first time for the Supply Jacket to feature a blanket lining. Unfortunately, the jacket sold out in under 4 days but the hasty sale validates the garment’s popularity and makes a reappearance next fall.

Natural Chromexcel Leather Card Case

Next up is actually not a raw denim piece at all, but instead a card case created with the leather brand, Hollows Leather. We recently featured the leather maker and highlighted his focus on making solidly made products that are workwear heritage-inspired. Needless to say, this co-produced wallet is a great example of his dedication to all things workwear.

The idea for a collaboration piece started a year and half ago and after throwing some ideas and a few prototypes back-and-forth, it resulted in a handsome natural chromexcel card case with the wool blanket as an inlay. The case itself is entirely handmade by Nick Hollows in his workshop in Minnesota. It is a simple design with two pockets on the interior that will hold several cards and cash in each pocket making it a pretty utilitarian wallet for those who are trying to avoid a bulky wallet. As expected from chromexcel leather, the case should age beautifully with use and the wool blanket should also wear in well.

The two releases exhibit interesting ways of utilizing the same fabric in two very different products. With these pieces, as well as it’s other recent releases – the hand-dyed handkerchief  and indigo posters – it’s clear Rogue Territory has risen to become one of the top makers in the market and is certainly worth keeping an eye on in 2014.
