Even though much of North America is experiencing the “polar vortex” deep freeze, it’s helpful to remember that spring is only a couple of months away. Naked & Famous is definitely hoping you’ll think about the changing seasons since the Canadian raw denim brand has started releasing its Spring/Summer 2014 Collection. While the company is known for its creative (read: occasionally crazy) offerings, their latest is fairly wearable.
The Naked & Famous 12.5 Oz. White/Black Selvedge Denim features a uniquely designed white warp and black weft (for background on warp and weft, read our previous article, “Understanding Raw Denim: Warp, Weft and Twill“). Since the white warp is undyed, the jeans will not fade – however, over time and frequent wear the black weft threads will begin to pop through the surface.
Due to the textured look as well, these jeans will make it easier to hide stains than a standard pair of white denim; always a plus when it comes to a pair of pants that should last for ages. We can’t wait to see how this pair evolves over time.
Keeping in line with the spring/summer mindset, the lighter weight of these jeans will help keep the wearer cool as the temperature inevitably rises. The new release is available in the company’s Weird Guy and Skinny Guy fits, with both featuring a simple black leather patch.
