Fade Friday – Lee 101 Rider (15 months, 3 washes)

The spotlight for this week’s Fade Friday in on this classic pair of Lee 101 Riders. This beautiful pair has been worn with dedication for 450 days and has only seen 3 washes. They’ve even seen a few repairs along the way. These come to us from Bram Spaniersberg, who works at a premium street wear store called Daily Rush located in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

The real highlight for this pair are in its thighs and honeycombs. The thighs are almost white and blend in smoothly to the still dark indigo leg. The honeycombs are sharp with diamond-sharp fades. Its very easy to visually see the love and care that went into this pair of jeans.

The 5 Dip Indigo dying process used in this pair creates the amazing blue hue of this denim. Its an ancient process that oxidizes a mixture of salt, soda ash, sodium hydroxide, and indigo in order to turn the denim from an originally green color into this deep indigo. This technique usually requires 5 dips for the best results.
