Hudson’s Hill: Store Opening in Greensboro, NC

It’s not unheard of these days to hear of two people meeting by chance and deciding to venture into something bigger and better as a duo. That’s exactly the case for Evan Morrison and William Clayton, the founders of Hudson’s Hill, a recently-opened shop in Greensboro, North Carolina that focuses on heritage and made in the USA goods. Morrison and Clayton’s store is aiming to have a huge audience, especially given that it calls the same city home as Cone Mills.

Soon after Morrison returned to Greensboro from school in 2012, he started Gate City Dry Goods Co., a small micro shop that focused on new and used items made in the USA. After becoming friends with Clayton, who at the time helped operate his family’s print and embroidery business, the two decided to join together and open Hudson’s Hill.

The shop’s name has significant historical meaning in Greensboro—the story goes that on Elm St., where Hudson’s Hill is located, there was only one business in the late 19th century. That business was a grocery named Hudson Bros. Grocery, and over time the hill on the block became known as Hudson’s Hill.

Besides selling other brands, the shop also has an in-house line of items including a couple of workshirts, chore coats, sweatshirts, and assorted accessories. Swing through the photos to see photos of the store, which celebrated its launch several weeks ago. Morrison called out several collaborations that are in the works or are being released soon, including Christian McCann of Left Field NYC.

If you live in the area, Hudson’s Hill will be hard to resist. For those that don’t live near Greensboro and can’t make the trip to their brand new digs, check out their webstore.
