Known for their domestically crafted footwear, Oak Street Bootmakers have just released a classic suede chukka with features that you might not notice…until you’re caught in the rain. Through collaboration with famed leather tannery Horween, they were able to produce a suede that’s actually waterproof. It also utilizes a true Goodyear storm welt as well as an oiled leather waterlock soles to ensure that water doesn’t enter through the stitching. No need to worry about having to bust out galoshes or wellies when its pouring out.

The leather used for the chukkas is a full-grain suede that’s only been buffed on the flesh side. This gives the shoes a substantial feel while maintaining the integrity of a full-grain leather. For now they’ve only made it in chocolate, but we hope that they’ll expand on the colors in the future.
