Fade Friday – Bandanna Almanac x Ooe Yofuketen (15 months, 1 soak, many washes)

This week’s Fade Friday goes out to the wabi-sabi lovers, the denimheads that know that a proud, strong, and independent jean don’t need no high-contrast fades to be beautiful. You won’t find super-defined honeycombs or stacks in this pair of Bandanna Almanac x Ooe Yofuketen “Albuquerque” jeans, but you will see that vintage powder-blue shade of indigo often found on decades old denim.

Reader Chris Woodhead has worn these jeans for just over a year while doing everything from “playing rock shows, to doing yard work, to wrestling with my kids, to creating retail displays for my day job.” Not one to wear his jeans through dirt and grime, he can’t even recall how many washes they’ve been through.

The jeans themselves are made from a 14oz. unsanforized broken twill selvedge denim and the pocketbags from vintage bandanas. Knowing old handkerchiefs might not hold up as well as the jeans, BA included scraps from the off cuts for repairs with every jean, and Chris has definitely used his share. You can keep up with Chris and this pair’s progress via his Instagram.
