Fade Friday – Hanzo TS105SS (19 months, 6 washes, 0 soaks)

I’m seriously considering disqualifying fades from Southeast Asia–they’re just too damn good! The climate and heavy denim culture there makes for the perfect storm of amazing raw denim evos like this one from Jakarta, Indonesia. I imagine a giant blue cloud hanging over that entire part of the world from all the sloughed off indigo.

This week’s fade comes from darahkubiru forum member Junior Johan, who wore local denim brand Hanzo for over a year and a half. To truly put these jeans to the test, Junior didn’t even presoak these unsanforized jeans and wore them for a solid seven months before they touched water for the first time. It wasn’t an easy seven months either, he wore them drumming on stage with his band, on film sets, and even over his racing suit during rally car competitions.

Despite all the abuse, the 19oz. jeans have help up well and haven’t needed a single repair. Fade-wise, they’ve earned some nice overall fades with the color depth typical of heavier unsanforized denim. They also have some great roping fades on the cuff, a telltale sign of the 43200G at work.
