Red Wing Heritage Postman 6-Inch Boot

Back in the day, civil service workers had to do a lot of walking–postmen had to walk their mail route, cops had to walk their beat. Such activity required a shoe that could keep up with its wearer but still look presentable.

Red Wing introduced the 101 shoe in response, “a sturdy black oxford with a moldable insole, and they made over 2 million pairs of them for government workers through the end of the twentieth century.

They recently reintroduced the style as the Postman in their Heritage Collection in an oxford and a chukka boot, and now they’re imagining it again as a 6-inch lace up. The 9197 has the same black chapparal leather, crepe wedge sole, and 210 last as the other Postmen but laces all the way up with 9 eyelets.

The 9197 will be available soon at retailers through Red Wing Heritage.
