What do you get when mix 1/3 Canadian heavyweight denim brand, 1/3 Japanese heavyweight denim brand, and 1/3 an American-inspired Japanese artist? The Naked & Famous x Big John x Rockin Jelly Bean of course! For our readers who may not know, Rockin Jelly Bean is a Japanese artist who’s artwork tiptoes the fine line between genius and insanity. Given his creative nature, it goes without saying that the aforementioned jeans are going to be extremely unique.
Using Big John’s RURI denim, the Japanese name for a deep blue gem known as Lapis Lazuli in English, Naked & Famous’ Super Skinny Guy fit, and RJB’s signature artwork, they have managed to make a very unique pair of denim. The RURI fabric combined with the Super Skinny Guy fit, combines a mix of color & fit that you can not find in either companies solo arsenal. RJB’s amazing artwork skills lead an insanely unique 100% leather patch.
The featured fades, submitted by Garry Nie of Canada, shows an overall nice fade as a result of extensive wear over a period of 6 months. These jeans have seemingly been through it all, making rounds through the gym, going on hikes and bike rides, as well as daily life. It is impressive to see the contrast in the honeycombs and back pocket fades given the already very light color of denim. The one wash helped solidify those contrasting fades, and we’re excited to hopefully see future shots of these jeans after some more wear has been put into them.
