Lightning Magazine’s Denim Indigo Style Reference Guide

Lightning Magazine’s Denim Indigo Style Reference Guide

All of the brands represented in the book.

As anyone who’s ever wandered into a bookstore in Tokyo will tell you, the Japanese have an intense obsession with cataloging, indexing, and filing away. Well the same people who put together Japanese workwear obsession magazine Lightning have done just that for denim with their most recent tokushu (special edition book), “Denim Indigo Style”.

The book is 258 pages of pure denim fetishism, featuring spread after spread of nearly every denim brand we know, and many we don’t. Yes, it’s all in Japanese, but the pictures do enough of the talking. Lightning catalogs each brand, from AG to XLarge, with new and faded examples of their signature styles as well as descriptions of each brand’s unique features.

So if you’re ever wondering, “What’s the deal with Strike Gold?”, Denim Indigo Style has got you covered as it’s probably the most comprehensive encyclopedia of modern denim ever set to print.

I’ve only had my personal copy for a few days, but have already found it to be an essential reference guide for denimheads of all stripes. You can pick up your copy from the Lightning/Clutch website for 920JPY (~$7.50 USD).
