Inspiration NYC Vintage Fest Kicks off this Weekend

Inspiration is a beautiful thing, and no I’m not talking about the eureka feeling of the muse striking you, I’m talking the annual gathering of a bunch of smelly, old, clothes in a giant expo center. That’s right, Inspiration is coming twice this year, and as always it’s open to the public so those of you in New York should clear your calendar for this Friday and Saturday.

Founded by vintage clothing historian extraordinaire, Rin Tanaka, Inspiration has been the must-see vintage and vintage-inspired tradeshow ever since it debuted in Los Angeles in 2010. Rin has held the show in LA every February (see our coverage of this year’s show here and a few pics above), but this year it’s headed east to the Brooklyn Expo Center in Greenpoint.

According to Rin, the idea to take the show to New York started two years ago and now he’s happy to bring the good vibes with him. All 84 exhibitor booths are sold out and about half of them are from the New York area, so expect a more regional flavor than just a transplanted LA show.

In addition to the vintage dealers (which include our friends Brit Eaton and Eric Kvatek) are a wide variety of repro and heritage brands including:
