Akka Enters 32oz. Handwoven Jeans to Denim World Championships

When will it end? Three-pound denim seemed to be the nail in the coffin for denim competitions. But here we are again with a pair from Akka. So what makes them different? These 32oz. beasts are completely handwoven. Not hand-loomed, no. Handwoven.

Akka took strips of denim, dipped in indigo anywhere from 1–12 times, interlacing them atop a 7.5oz. subframe. The video goes more in-depth and honestly makes my eyes roll so far back with how many buzzwords they use like ‘artisan,’ ‘Tibetan,’ and ‘bees honey’. Yeah, bees honey.

Aside from the shitty camera work totaling only about 12 seconds of closeups of the denim itself, and about 24 seconds of closeups of the narrator, you get a great side view of the jeans laying flat.

Nevertheless, they’re definitely an eye-catching pair of jeans that will make some heads turn and some eyes roll. And if anything, it’ll help bring attention to Akka’s brand which actually does some great charity work.
