Fade of the Day – Saint Unbreakable (1 Year, 5 Months, 2 Washes, 3 Soaks)

We recently covered the announcement that denim makers Saint would be releasing a new Unbreakable line of goods made with the extremely tough new denim called Dyneema. Geared especially towards motorcycle riders, it might spark some interest. But if you’re like us, you need to see it to believe it. Today’s Fade of the Day was sent in by Saint co-founder Mike Lelliott, who is here to provide a little insight a year and a half into wearing his Unbreakable’s.

When you’re working with a material that has also been used in bullet proof vests, it’s probably safe to assume they’re going to be tougher to destroy than your average pair of blue jeans. Mike has proven this to be true in his time spent in these pants, riding his motorcycle across Australia, camping under the stars, through the rain, scorching heat, and traveling around the world.

And the fades do not disappoint, with some awesome whiskering all down the legs and a surprising amount of contrast from such a tough fabric. While the Dyneema itself has yet to be broken, it has put more stress on the seams and required a couple of stitching repairs. Luckily, being co-founder means product testing is all a part of the journey, and Saint has worked even harder to reinforce seams with tougher threads, increased seam allowance, and triple folding.
