Fade of the Day – A.P.C. Petit Standard (6 Years, 11 Months, Unknown Washes)

There’s distressed denim, and then there’s next-level distressed denim – today’s Fade of the Day is the latter. Nuquan Newcomb of Atlanta submitted his pair of A.P.C. Petit Standards that take distressed to an entirely different level.

In order for this style to be legit, you have to earn it. After six years and an unknown number or washes and soaks, these A.P.C.s have been extensively repaired, resulting in an extraordinary look. Designers might try to create and market this appeal pre-made, under monikers such as “boro,” but nothing is as authentic as a pair of well-worn faded jeans.

The dye is all but washed out, a lot of the original fabric has been patched up and darned, and paint splatter suggests these have been working jeans, too. Although much of the denim has faded to a light blue, the honeycombs are still killer. Combined, these elements create something truly unique and remarkable.
