Studio D’Artisan is putting some serious emphasis on selvedge milled from cotton grown in Memphis and Zimbabwe. Their D1712 15oz. Memphis x Zimbabwe Selvedge Special Edition Jeans ($245 USD) combine the two contrasting fibres, a trend that has become increasingly common.

In the case of these D1712, however, we’re seeing a significant jump in price compared to other similar options like the Japan Blue JB0606 which rings up at half the price. Whilst we understand the appeal and exclusivity of a special edition product in limited quantities, the question still remains: is it really worth the hype, and price tag, when more affordable options exist?
