Fade of the Day – Jean Shop Rocker (3 Years, 0 Washes, 0 Soaks)

There will always be some contention on how and when to wash raw denim. In recent years, the trend has been leaning towards more frequent washing, where as, at one time, but long ago, in the land before rinses, many denimheads would wait as long as possible before putting their jeans anywhere near water. Boris Kupesic of Toronto, Canada, has taken the old-school approach, and not washed his pair of  Jean Shop Rockers once over three years.

We are seeing some restrained, but crispy fades here. Each crease has set in well, with solid honeycombs and symmetrical whiskers. What is most interesting is how the indigo has held itself so well, with the fabric developing a vertically-fading, streaky texture.

It has no doubt been a smelly ride, but hats off to Boris for keeping these dry for so long. They look awesome.
