Fade of the Day – The Rising Sun Mfg. Co. Cattleman (2 Years, 8 Washes)

What makes a well-crafted denim jacket even better? Wearing it for close to three years and letting time take its toll. Heddels reader Tanawat Seethiang of Australia did just that in his Rising Sun Mfg. Co. Cattleman Jacket, making it look even more like it belongs on the ranches that inspired the design. This is Tanawat’s second appearance as a featured fade with a denim jacket, and it makes us wonder what other what other goodies he has in his collection.

While some denim nerds might have less-than-nice things to say about the fading potential of Cone Mills denim, one look at this jacket could have them rethinking that notion. Having seen two years and eight months of what Tanawat describes as “normal everyday wear”, there is a considerable loss of indigo throughout with white highlights in the high-friction areas. Elbow honeycombs aplenty, awesome pocket and waist fading, with the darkest parts being left hidden in the folds from the back cinch, this is one nice looking piece.
