Pure Blue Japan Double Natural Indigo Type II Selvedge Jacket

There’s no way around it — Pure Blue Japan has been killing the indigo game for a long time, but especially as of late. Just last month they dropped four new iterations of their Type II jacket, and this month they are topping them all with this Double Natural Indigo Type II Selvedge Jacket.

Before you gasp at the price difference, let’s take a closer look at this denim. Natural indigo dying is something PBJ is known for, but this is the first time their artisans have hank-dyed both the warp and weft — a process that involves dipping the denim by hand 20 times in a vat of natural Japanese Indigofera indigo until the dye is fully saturated in the threads. The results are a super slubby, unsanforized denim with more indigo resilience than you have probably ever seen. It features a blue selvedge ID, double needle chain stitched construction, and a deerskin leather patch.

Available for $745 at Okayama Denim.
