Fade of the Day – Shockoe Atelier Standard Hicks (1 Year, 4 Washes)

We’ve seen some slub in our time, but this pair of Shockoe Atelier Standard Hicks really take the biscuit. They were submitted to us by Philip Edgars of Arizona, and as soon as we saw the insane vertical fading, we knew they had to be shown off in Fade Of The Day.

Philip tells us he wore these jeans nearly every day for a year, mainly at his desk job but also to concerts and social events. They’ve picked up some crispy honeycombs and whiskers along the way, and the irregular fabric has developed endless patina. Those of you who have had jeans this slubby before will have most likely suffered the same level of crotch blowout thanks to the abrasive nature of the fabric, but when they look this good, it’s worth it!

Philip is showing no sign of slowing down with these beasts, repairing them whenever necessary. And with only a year of wear so far, there’s a lot more to look forward to.

Philip can be found crafting his own leather goods on Instagram.
