Fade of the Day – Left Field Chelsea 17 oz. (17 Months, 2 Washes, 3 Soaks)

As it turns out, folks, workwear still looks the best when it is worked in. Tom Connors, of Newport, RI, knows this all too well, having worn this pair of Left Field Chelseas 17 oz. for the last year and a half while working full-time as a carpenter on mega yachts—a job that has easily earned these jeans a spot in today’s Fade of the Day.

On top of Tom’s manual labor nine-to-five, he rides a motorcycle daily, which has also contributed to the current state of these jeans. The resulting dirty, beat up fades give these jeans an awesome vintage look, as they have lightened in hue throughout and show plenty of signs of the personal wear patterns. Crazy whiskering up front is matched by a heavily faded seat and back pockets, where you can see the faint outlines of Tom’s pocket knife and comb that he carries everywhere. Nearly every seam is worn down and starting to fray, and the cuffs show signs of wearing through in the folds. Tom has made one home repair to a razor cut in the thigh, and has sent his jeans back to Left Field for one crotch blowout repair but is still rocking them—probably until he can’t anymore.
