Fade Friday – Lee Storm Rider (Unknown Years, Unknown Washes)

There are untold gems to be found in vintage clothing stores worldwide, and this edition of Fade Friday might have you rescheduling your weekend plans in favor of hunting down some second-hand goodness. This Lee Storm Rider jacket was picked up by Allen Riffal of Vancouver, and although it wasn’t faded by him personally, it has plenty of character to be admired.

This cowboy classic has seen lots of hard wear, most likely in the ’70s and ’80s, and the once raw denim is now a washed-out light blue, graced with white fades all over. The bulky sleeves have rippling honeycombs right down to the cuffs, which are frayed and damaged. The blanket lining is also falling away around the neck, but thankfully the vintage Storm Rider label is still intact and legible.

For us, it’s the damage and imperfections that make this jacket such an amazing piece — it almost looks like it’s been pulled straight out of the Lee archives. And the fact that it’s come full cycle and is now part of Allen’s wardrobe is really something special.
