Oddie Goodie Flea Market – The Taipei Vintage Recap

Denim and other heritage stores aren’t always just a place to buy and sell: they can also be gathering places for people in this community. That’s exactly what happened last week at the Oddie Goodie Flea Market in Taipei, at the Dr. Sole and Niche Market stores. Fans gathered to talk, meet up, score old boots and used clothes, and check out the shops.

Dr. Sole was offering deadstock Red Wings and some Wescos to boot fans in Taipei. The reseller has also recently dipped its toes into the production and refurbishment world, offering a line of off-the-shelf custom Red Wings called the Ready To Wear collection.

Every month Dr. Sole will offer old Red Wings that they resoled, cleaned up, and in some cases redid or changed the sole style entirely (from say, a crepe sole to a single leather mid-sole, low block heel, half sole and heel).

Dr. Sole’s shop also has a new neighbor, Niche Market. The select shops sells new and used clothes and accessories from Japanese and American brands. In addition, it stocks leather goods from Heyou Arts & Crafts Department, a new leather brand from Jordan Yu, also of Dr. Sole.

Vintage clothes were also on hand, as well as leather jackets and vests from Taipei shop Black Venom.

No doubt, Dr. Sole will hold other similar events in the future as the Taiwanese heritage scene continues to grow with more fans joining the fold.
