Fade of the Day – Unbranded UB101 (1 Year, 3 Months, 1 Wash, 1 Soak)

As the work week winds down and we prep to say, “Well, hello there, beautiful” to our two days of freedom, let’s pause to give a shoutout to this week’s Fade Friday. Our friend Piyathat Ketsuwan in Bangkok, Thailand, graced us with the fades he’s accumulated on what appears to be his every-day jean, a used and abused pair of Unbranded 101.

Piyathat shows his dedication to the game with a single soak and a lone wash in the span of 15 months. Strong fades are the clear reward here as they starkly contrast against the pairs’ indigo retention. Below the knee, these jeans have that familiar and seductive midnight-indigo tone that drew us all into raw denim in the first place.

However, glancing above the knee, it’s as if someone was rolling along on the highway with no lights on then went straight for the high beams. Strong honeycombs at the back of the knee wrap around to seemingly indigo-free patches of white surrounding the front. Moving upward toward the lap, great swaths of indigo loss are highlighted by all the shadowed whiskers that cut right through.
