Fade of the Day – A.P.C. Petit Standard (20 Months, 2 Soaks)

Today’s Fade Of The Day shines a light Jin Chen’s A.P.C. Petit Standards, which have been the main jeans in his rotation for the last year and eight months. And Jin, from the U.S., has steered clear of any washes in that span, instead opting for just two soaks to tide him over for the time being, resulting in a good amount of indigo retention throughout.

This pair has the start of some honeycombs at the back of the knee, and some indigo loss at the seat, and the front and rear thighs, but the elephant in the room is the super contrasty whiskers. Jin coaxed this contrast out of the denim by applying a little hepful sandpaper just prior to the second soak, though! Is this an ethical dilemma of the denim kind?
