Iron Heart has a new shirt up their sleeve and, as you likely may have guessed, its a variation on a time-tested classic. Styled after a shirt issued by the US Navy in the past, the IHSH-169-iod is a selvedge chambray shirt with double and triple needle stitching for ample sturdiness. So, whether you’re weathering the seas or busting your hump on your commute, this one is built to last.
The stand-out detail, setting it apart from similar offerings, is that this shirt was constructed as a white selvedge chambray shirt then overdyed via dips in an indigo bath after it had been finished. This not only gives the fabric a more interesting tone (overdyed fabrics tend to be less flat), but it also changes the color of the shirt’s white stitching, down to the chainstitch runoff and even its white buttons, nicely mellowing out the contrast.
And hey, a word to the wise, the indigo overdye process does shrink the shirt, so pick your size off the measurement chart, not based on your existing Iron Heart sizing.
