Beams Plus Channels The Beat Generation for Their Autumn/Winter 2017 Lookbook

If you’re inner beatnik has been crying out, the latest Beams Plus lookbook might have you writing poems and frequenting your local jazz bar this Autumn/Winter. Beams Plus has pulled inspiration from a mix of military, sportswear, and casual clothing from the fifties and sixties, resulting in an eclectic collection of garments, aptly named “The Subterraneans” after the novella by beat generation novelist Jack Kerouac.

An array of materials are used, but fabrics like corduroy and wool feature extensively, especially on standout pieces like the Corduroy Camp Collar Shirt Jacket, the Harris Tweed Overcoat and Wool Mackinaw Jacket, which bring endless high-texture steez. There’s even an Alpaca wool cardigan if you like things super fuzzy.

As usual, Beams came through with a large collection of shirting options ranging from clean, Ivy league-style staples — like oxfords, candy stripes and rugged wool flannels — all of which have been layered up with clashing textures and patterns for eccentric, beatnik-inspired outfits. And no Autumn/Winter collection would be complete without some epic outerwear, so they made sure to include some hard hittin’ military-style pieces, like an M-43 Field Jacket and a B-9 Down Jacket.

You can view and shop the entire collection over at Beams.
