Fade of the Day – Carhartt Duck Bib R01 Overall (10+ years, Unknown Washes)

As it turns out, the journey from duck brown to swan white is a long one. These Carhartt Duck Bib Overalls have seen a massive 15 years of hard wear by John Breitenbucher, a Heddels reader from Ohio, and they barely have a shred of their original duck brown color left, thus crowning them today’s Fade of the Day.

John has used these overalls for all sorts of yard work, including mowing and snow shoveling and you can see how this manual labor has taken its toll on the cotton duck fabric. It’s now pretty much white and the only remnants of brown that can be seen are towards the hems and in the crotch, and on the shoulder straps.Even though they’re faded as hell, these overalls have really held up, and somehow no repairs have been needed—an unassailable testament to how strong these things are made.
