Fade of the Day – Levi’s 501 STF (3 Years, Unknown Washes)

Sometimes you make the fades from scratch, but in the case of buying second-hand, sometimes you contribute to what’s already there. That’s the case with today’s Fade Of The Day, sent in by Jamie Cane of London, England.

This pair of Big E Levi’s 501 STF was spotted by Jamie’s wife at a vintage store over a year ago, already with considerable wear. Jamie then wore them nearly daily for a couple of years around 2005 before retiring them because of being oh-so-close to falling apart on him. Prior to that, he contributed to the jeans’ fades by adding the whiskers you see streaking through the inner thigh, plenty of distressing requiring multiple patch jobs, as well as a very nice overall depletion of indigo throughout, most prominent in the thigh and rear end.

This is the prized pair in his selvedge collection and for good reason—they look absolutely fantastic. Another example of how super-high contrast fades aren’t the be-all and end-all.
