Fade of the Day – Railcar Denim Spikes X012 (2 Years, 1 Wash, 3 Soaks)

Frank in Germany is a big, big fan of the product and story behind Railcar Fine Goods, and wanted to share images and the story of his own pair of Spikes X012’s, which we’ve made today’s Fade Of The Day.

Frank’s become an avid bicyclist to avoid owning a car, and all that bike riding has aided and abetted in the beat-down on these jeans. Frank’s pretty proud of the ass-heart fade on the jeans and we have to concur with him—that’s a serious ass-heart fade! He’s had to repair the crotch a few times but we have a hunch that Frank enjoys doing the mending work.

The cycling might have lent towards a more softer fade profile, particularly in the front of the pant as there isn’t a whole lot of super contrasty fade in that Cone Mills denim, but there is indigo depletion-galore and some very nice staggered whiskers lining the inseam from the knee up to the lap. The wicked honeycombs at the back knee take on more contrast and display a really tight cluster of fades that are verging on layered pastry territory, in lieu of standard honeycombs—sick baklavas Frank!
