Coming straight out of Wisconsin, today’s Fade of the Day is Thomas Linn’s natural veg-tanned 3P Simple wallet by KC Co., now a well-patinated dark brown. We love our denim fades, as you well know, but we also love the evolution of well-worn leather, so thanks to Thomas for sending these nice pics in. (And for anyone reading, feel free to send along the documentation of your boots, bags, jackets or anything else in the realm of wabi-sabi.)
This wallet is a reminder to take your time, opt for the scenic route, and make a point to stop and smell the roses. Of all the colors to buy, leather that’s been dyed brown in the tanning process seems to be a bit redundant when you think about it. Why not just go with natural veg-tanned leather? You’ll start with one beautiful tone, end up with another rich and unique tone all its own, and get to enjoy the transformation while you’re at it.
Thomas’s wallet is a perfect case study: The area protected by his cards and cash still offer a glimpse of how it started fresh, while the leather holding his cards and cash together have patinated to a gorgeous milk chocolate, a sign of a wallet used right.
