Fade Friday – Japan Blue Jeans JB0412-ML (15 Months, 2 Soaks)

When the going got tough, the tough patched up their jeans and kept going…at least that was the case for this week’s Fade Friday, featuring a rough-and-tumble pair of Japan Blue JB0412-ML’s belonging to Heddels reader Asher Coady, of Amsterdam.

Asher bought these jeans as he moved his life from Colorado to Europe, and has been fading them regularly ever since. We’re seeing some tight whiskering through the upper thighs, with plenty of indigo loss leading down to the matching, ripped-open knees. Surprisingly, the crotch blew out just six months in, followed by the pockets, and since then, Asher’s been trying to keep them in one piece. This meant throwing sewing on leather patches and sashiko-stitched home repairs on the problem areas, which only adds to the character of these jeans.

On the reverse side, we find two thrashed back pockets with more repair work and possibly some of the tightest-knit honeycombs we’ve ever seen. These Frankenjeans are completed with some textbook stacks atop the single-fold cuffs for the whole faded package.
