Fade of the Day – Levi’s 501 STF (10+ Years, 15 Washes)

There are countless pairs of thrashed Levi’s 501’s in the world, but the best thing about raw denim is that no two will look the same. For today’s Fade of the Day, we’ve got a shredded pair of 501 STF coming from Fabio Montibbio in Italy, who’s been beating them up for more than a decade.

Fabio tells us these are his ‘lucky jeans’ which he’s worn for many games of billiards. And as the games have racked up, so has the insane dye loss and damage. The denim has been worn and washed out to the lightest of indigo tones, and the lap has been completely shredded, covered in home repairs and exposed white wefts. All creases seem to have been lost in the storm of indigo-loss, but there are some lovely vintage-style touches like the roping on the hems and inseam and puckering around the waistband. These Levi’s might be nearing the end of the road, but they wouldn’t look out of place in any denim exhibition as a perfect example of hardcore denim evolution.
